Backing up Saturn games

Forgive me if this was posted in another thread, but i couldn’t find it. (point me in the correct direction if you remember where it was)

Anyways i am getting a comp in my room soon, and i wanna take advantage of great speakers and such. What protection do saturn games have? Is it all the same, or do certain games have different protection? I was planning to back up most games as ISO’s, and play them on a saturn emulator.

Thank you =)

They’ve got no protection if you’re just planning on ripping them as standard BIN and CUE files (or ISO too I guess). Just get yourself a program such as Alcohol 120% or CDRWIN and you can rip them straight to your harddrive. You can use those programs to write the images onto blank CDs are well.

If you’re planning on playing them on an actual Saturn, that’s another story. You’ll either have to get a modded Saturn, or use a dodgy disc swapping that requires you to open up your Saturn and sellotape back the CD tray switch (to trick the Saturn into thinking the CD tray is always closed).

thanks solo =) anyways, i use alcohol 120% so it should be pretty easy to rip the games if they have no protection. Then i could simply just stick it onto a virtual drive and let the emulator do its stuff right? =)

thanks again!

I knew you had a drinking problem.

Yep.

I defintely need to get either a new saturn battery or a new PC.

Or even a saturn memory card…

I’d recommend an official memory cartridge; your saves will last a lot longer that way, and GiriGiri has so many problems that it’s just more fun to play the games on the Saturn itself.
