Azel, the only female drone? Beware Orta spoilers

I think that the more intelligent Drones all have that kind of knowledge, just not the ability to use it. They were limited by the programming of the Ancients to keep them under control. I think that the rebels who kidnapped Azel allowed her to break free from that programming.

Maybe Abbad wanted to complete his mission in a way that the Ancients didn’t allow him to do. He wasn’t allowed to do the research Azel did so using Orta’s DNA was the only way of realizing his goal.

He could still go after Azel and use her to make more “Ortas” (or just more drones, no need to have human genes (unless he goes for what Atolm said, meaning wanting to have drones reproduce and multiply in numbers which is a very good point so he could just use human genes again and then use those new “Ortas” in turn like he wants to use the “real” Orta now…)
So I think it’s still safe to assume Azel is dead…or atleast Abadd doesn’t know of her whereabouts…but I think for him to know about Orta he also must have known about Azel so why go after Orta and not Azel?
And I don’t think ALL high level drones have the knowledge Azel did, it’s obvious some drones don’t know what others do since Azel was also the only one that could open the gate to Sestren…so it makes sense if she was also able to do other things other drones can’t (namely to create Orta heh)
In any case why would they give the drones knowledge they don’t want them to use? It doesn’t make sense…

Then why not give a drone as advanced as Azel the task of resusitating the ancients instead of Abadd? Abadd seemed quite intelligent and capable, and in his role he could no doubt do what other drones could only dream of.

Remember, even drones who developed an identity remained loyal to the ancients. The ancients wouldn’t limit knowledge just to keep a drone from breaking free from their control in such a case.

Azel’s emotions were unlocked because her intelligence was enhanced in order to control a Tower. Whoever stole her tapped into her mind.

Maybe that was Azel’s original task. Azel was kidnapped so they had to make a new drone to perform the original mission. Perhaps that could have been Abbad?

Depends on how you look at it. For example Abbad was always loyal to the Ancients but eventually he comes up with a plan that is (probably) quite different from what the Ancients intended him to do. What I’m saying is that maybe they limited what drones could do with their knowledge. Abbad is capable of researching and creating Dragonmares with the Cradle but he doesn’t seem to be able to create new drones by himself.

Hmmm…

I think maybe we can’t compare Azel’s task with Abadd’s one (talking about the creation of a beeing; Orta and drones respectively).

Azel wanted to make something part human…

Abadd doesn’t want that…

Abadd tried to fulfill his mission in the only way he knew how. If he couldn’t serve his masters, somehow, he was totally clueless. Enough to drive him insane. Instead he found a new way to serve them.

I still think that as the drone tasked with reviving the ancients Abadd was equipped with all the right knowledge and abilities, making him extremely advanced. I highly doubt he’d be less advanced than Azel; the ancients would demand only the best.

Stealing Orta’s body might be the key to unlocking the method Azel used to create her. Perhaps Abadd thought along those lines like someone previously mentioned in this topic.

I honestly don’t know.

He is insane : Episode 5 final cutscene

Yeah I also think that is true.Hmm…

…I’m starting to wonder : he couldn’t possibly expect to make 100% drone beeings could he??

The answer to that might be a clue to why he needed Orta if he did in fact need her…

And thus, my point is made. The question is: what drove him to insanity? The inability to serve his masters.

That is a much better avatar Gehn. Do try to hold onto it.

 Yeah well I’m back to PD related avies :stuck_out_tongue:
Working on a sig 2…
Man I love Glidewing…

Anyways The inability to acomplish his main task (resuscitation) is the only possible answer to that IMO.I think we can have tis as granted info…

Well it is possible he lost his sanity beforehand when he first developed his identity – when he became self-aware. After experiencing madness, then he willingly served the ancients, just as the drone report in PD Saga describes.

Who says that wasn’t her original objective but when she was stolen she was replaced by Abadd?

EDIT sorry D-Unit I didn’t see you mentioned that might have been her original task first  Oh and, does Abadd really research and create Dragonmares or is he just the key to awakening them? I thought that’s what he was with how things were told in the game…being able to activate the cradle (or any ruins) doesn’t mean he actually had the knowledge on how dragonmares are created, it just means he had clearance for that area…sort of like having the security card that opens the door, he doesn’t have to know how things work inside tho…

In any case even if that didn’t happen, one drone couldn’t do it all, they had various drones for various tasks, with one of Abadd’s tasks being to ressurect his masters…I don’t see why Azel would have to do everything just cos she was advanced and could do things other drones can’t, her duties were different…Every specially designed drone can propably do things other drones can’t (even more “advanced” drones than himself possibly as well)

He does appear to malfunction at times but he seems far from mad to me…his plan might sound cruel and make us think he is mad but he’s just doing it to accomplish an objective and putting aside any ethical drawbacks (which he obviously doesn’t have) it’s an efficient plan so he follows it…

Insane = Malfunctioning

A few seconds of malfunctioning are far from being insane…

My point is: I don’t believe Azel was more advanced than Abadd. I think Abadd was better equipped and built to do more to accomplish one aim because of the role he played.

Not just the head twisting…
And I alredy said that insane might not be the best of terms to describe it

Well I think it’s written/mentioned somewhere that Azel was their finest creation,(but even if it’s not it doesn’t really matter, just cos she’s a newer more efficient “model” it doesn’t mean she’s really that more advanced from others…) but ofcourse like I mentioned earlier that doesn’t mean that other drone’s can’t do things Azel can’t…

There’s no mention of Azel being special in the Uru logs.

But being the only one who could activate the tower, she had to be pretty special.

Her captors modified her to control the Tower, according to Zadoc the compiler. There’s no telling what they did exactly.
