A little detail about Guardian Dragon

First of all, maybe people already brought this topic up and discussed it ad nauseam so please any mods lock this if that’s the case.

I’ve been always a fan of the PD series, the amazing artistic style it uses, the bosses, the music (ah, the music is a whole chapter), the “aura” these games had… Anyway, I managed to put my claws on a copy of PD Zwei coughs through non-sancto ways and tried to run it with Satourne. Miraclously, it worked, although without sound and at 40fps MAX.

When I reached the masterful and epic battle against the Guardian Dragon, right when he performs the deadly tail-attack, I noticed the lower part of his body has a little decal/logo of a face sticking out the tongue. Could this be a little and weird easter egg? It truly gives me the feeling that Mr. Guardian Dragon is totally making fun of me as he pounds and destroys Lagi with his huge array of weapons.

I took a screenshot so you can view this thing:

Now, I was thinking if the programmers hid other stuff within the episodes… I know, I know, it’s not a big deal really but I thought it would be interesting to point this out. :anjou_embarassed:

Wow thats hilarious, I had no idea anything like that was hidden in the game.

Why are you using Satourne to play Zwei? You should be using SSF, since it plays Saturn games nearly perfect with sound. Unfortunately, there are no Hi-Res options, and you must have a Core 2 Duo system or higher to enjoy the games at full speed.

Oh my god. That’s really scary lol! I never even noticed that before. Thanks for sharing it.

hehe nice find

high res looks great …

That is so weird. The Ancients must have been quite the pranksters LOL!

Proof that the Ancients were human… or at least, humanoid?

Definately proof!

Yeah this is quite interesting and I actually saw this for the first time on my firt play thru.I remember trying to see if the Saga model had the same design but I don’t quite remember if it had or I was able to see it from the right angle.

I just checked, and unfortunately the Saga model of the Guardian Dragon doesn’t have the face. :anjou_sad:

It must have rubbed off after all those years.

:anjou_happy: wow i never noticed it before
thankx for sharing

That’s a good find. You chose your name well!

This topic reminded me to try SSF, since I now have a compatible CPU. It’s amazing! I’ve tried all of the PD games and they’ve been essentially flawless. No one will really be able to say that Saturn emulation is at an early stage once they’ve used SSF. :anjou_shock:

I wish I could get Rayman’s controls working, though; I’ve seen some sites saying that the issue is now fixed and I swear that I had it working properly at one point, but I don’t know how.

XD That’s awesome!

In regards to SSF, I was wondering if it actually runs PDS well now. I had heard that it crashed quite frequently. Additionally, though it’s highly unlikely, I was wondering if there is any possible way to emulate the three Saturn Panzers on the PSP. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to play them on longer trips, especially since I’ve got one coming up soon!

PDS plays flawlessly on SSF.

As for a PSP Saturn emulator, don’t count on it. Though, it’s not entirely out of the question, considering Princess Crown is more of a Saturn emulation than a port.

So not in time for my current trip, but perhaps for a future one? This gives me hope! :anjou_love:

About SSF, I’m having a problem. It won’t let me save my state. It keeps saying save error. Can you even save in this version (SSF_009_prototype_R2). And where do the snap shots go? I can’t find them.

Revert back to SSF Alpha .08 R11 and that should fix your problem. The new version appears to be a beta and has broken a few functions.

Snapshots are saved in a folder of the same name within SSF’s folder. I haven’t tried using save states, but I presume that I’ll have the same problem.

I reverted back to SSF 8 and I still can’t save. I unzip it with winzip, and just pull the files on to my desktop, the emulator doesnt upload onto my computer like casini. So, the image files aren’t appearing either.

That’s odd. Try using hotkeys to save then. Press ALT+F+S+1 to save in slot one, or press ALT+F+L+1 to load save slot 1.

I do not have any save state issues.
