The new version of http://www.panzerdragoonrevival.com now has support for multiple languages. As for now, there’s only an English and Dutch version available, but that will hopefully change in the near future. The petition is slowly reaching 100 signatures, which is about what I expected at this point. Once I get support for more languages, I’ll try and really get the word out. It’s great to see that most people are leaving a comment as well, I think that really makes a difference for a petition like this.
That would be great, thanks a lot Rynex! Do you think having it translated in German would help to gather more signatures from the German community? While I translated it to Dutch for the moment, it wasn’t really needed as they’re used to speaking English (most of our games/movies remain in English with Dutch subtitles). I’d imagine that’s not the case in Germany, but I don’t know how much it would matter for a website like this, and if it’s worth translating.
Signed. The signature count is disappointingly low though, even though I gather our fanbase is really small. I’m going to start posting this around some places I frequent and see what happens.
Thanks for the support. It’s true that the signature count is still very low, but at the moment it’s really due to a low amount of people that actually visit the website. I do intend to try and e-mail specific websites in the hopes they’ll post the news, but I’ll still need the help of the community to make this work. And most of those people aren’t visiting this forum anymore, but there are plenty of fans still around. I’m counting on a snowball effect, once you get the thing rolling you’ll automatically start to reach more people. The more signatures the petition has, the more people will take it seriously as well.
I believe we have a “marketing” problem in our hands.
The other day i left a comment on gamespot about the petition and got us a few signatures, but surprise surprise, not even one of them heard about the site before.
And then yesterday i was watching pete dorr play Tokyo Jungle Live on his twitch TV channel and casualy sent the link, again some guys signed the petition, but not even one of them heard about it before.
So, i think we have a serious problem publicizing the petition and unless we fix it we will be getting nowhere anytime soon.
I have sent in the past messages to Pete Dorr, Alpha Omega Sin, Happy Console Gamer and a bunch of other gaming channels but to no avail.
I believe someone here should try to send a message to them and try to presuade them by any means necessary to make a video about the petition, because lets face it, those guys get thousands of views on each of their videos, it would be the perfect way of spreading the message to the gaming community.
I think we should use this revival of classic Sega games (Jet Set Radio, NiGHTS) to our advantage and spread the link around in the comments below their reviews. I’ve seen Panzer Dragoon Orta being mentioned a fair bit whenever JSR comes up, so there’s an opportunity there to spread the word without the comments seeming too spamish.
I realize there’s a problem, but like I said to Solo when we discussed this, you basically need to have something interesting about the petition that makes it worth mentioning on other websites. That’s not something I have an answer for at the moment.
Just a thought, I wonder if this is something that could be promoted physically as well as online? For example, handing out flyers about the games and the petition or collecting signatures for it on paper outside of a games store? I’m not sure how keen people would be to do that, but if we’re serious about promoting the petition it could be an option.
To be honest I doubt you would meet any people that even know about the franchise. I still think making a video about the games would be a better way to promote the petition. Sega’s trailers for HD rereleased aren’t exactly that complicated either. Creating a fake trailer for an HD rerelease could really get a lot of attention (like the Panzer Dragoon Genos trailer did), but that would upset a lot of people so it’s best not to try that.
Most of the work for a “trailer” would go into collecting footage of the games and creating a video out of it displaying the best moments of all the games. PD Orta I can capture from my XBox360 in very high quality, the original Panzer Dragoon can probably be captured using the Sega Ages version on a PS2 emulator. Panzer Dragoon Zwei on Yabause is running reasonably well. Saga could be a bit problematic to capture in HD.

What better way to answer his question than our petition? Although there aren’t enough signatures yet so I’m not going to send him the link just yet. That said, his tweet could help convince some websites to post the link to our petition. I’ll definitely look into contacting some websites tomorrow.
Draikin, are you going to hold off from sending the petition to Sega at Panzer Dragoon Saga’s 15th anniversary if the number of signatures isn’t high enough? I think that might be wise…
To be honest if it’s not high enough then then I think the window of opportunity is gone anyway. Much will also depend on the sales for NiGHTS HD. If it fails to sell we can probably forget about seeing Panzer Dragoon return. If it’s a success, things will look a lot better for us.

I will buy NiGHTS tomorrow. Meanwhile i think we should work on the fake trailer, yes it would piss some people, BUT, it really could be a great strategy to make our cause known. Unfortunatly my lack of skill means i won?t be able to make or help making such a trailer, but i?m a really good spammer so once the thing is made i will spread it like a wild fire EVERYWHERE.
Well, the NiGHTS video I made recently is the first I tried creating using the new video editing software I bought (decided to use Magix Video Edit Pro). So I think I can create something decent if I have the right footage.
