I haven’t backed anything since Shenmue III (joke’s on me) but yeah, this looks blissfully promising 
I’ve never played a Suikoden game. What would say is the appeal (putting aside nostalgia if you can)?
I only played Suikoden 2. It had really good 2d sprite art, a fun battle system, good story and music. Not to mention, building your own base and recruiting over 100 characters to use in battle!

Great set/story, epic roster, fun combat (party, army, duels), sweet art (& music). The whole package.
