To be honest I don’t think Gash’s wounds were purposefully inflicted either; I’m just throwing ideas around. Still, if it was genuinely a coincidence that the title of Seeker leadership was “Shadow Eye” and that Gash had one black or missing eye, that would have to be a serious coincidence.
I guess there’s always the possibility that the name “Skiad Ops” was intended solely for Gash, and that it was simply added in translation in Endow’s case. Alternatively a Team Andromeda member - whoever decided to give the title “Skiad Ops” to Lundi as well as Gash - might simply have forgotten that it was meant solely for Gash. As the game’s creators seem to have paid meticulous attention to detail throughout, though, I’m not sure how likely this would be.
I’d actually assumed that Gash was born into Seeker society myself; it would certainly make sense, because the Seekers as a culture have existed for longer than the Empire (although admittedly their new recruits seem to largely be refugees from villages destroyed by monsters or the Imperial Forces).
It’s certainly possible that Gash could have been born and raised elsewhere, though; the back-stories of almost all PD characters are left utterly mysterious.
